ILIGAN City--The 65-year-old farmer who killed and burned the two-year-old son of his girlfriend was found dead hanging inside the toilet of the police detention cell in Maigo town, Lanao del Norte.

Lieutenant Baltazar Deguilmo, chief of Maigo Municipal Police Station, said Florencio Curay was found hanging, using a sling rope, by a duty officer around 12:00 midnight of February 13 while doing the regular roving-inspection of the custodial facility.

Deguilmo said the duty officer called Curay's name but did not answer. When his fellow inmate checked the toilet, he was found hanging.

He used the handle of the sling bag where his clothes were kept.

"We observed yesterday that he was very silent and did not eat. He was restless," Deguilmo said.

Curay was arrested on Sunday evening for killing and burning to ashes the two-year-old son of his girlfriend after a fight over a missing money.

Deguilmo said Curay alleged his girlfriend who took his money that resulted to a quarrel.

In an interview with the media, Curay denied killing and burning the child.

He also denied having a relationship with the woman.
