CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY: A lone gunman shot dead a businessman Monday while on his way to his stalls in Carmen Market, one of the the city’s largest public markets here.
Capt. Francisco Tumanda, the commander of the Carmen police station, identified the victim as Jun Ompoc, of Soldier Hill, Bulua, this city.
Witnesses told the police that the victim and the suspect had an altercation prior to the shooting.
Ompoc sustained two fatal gunshot wounds – one on the stomach and the other was on the head.
Tumanda said that the police investigators recovered two empty shells from a .45 caliber pistol in the crime scene.
He said that the police were looking into the possibility of motorbike theft as the motive of the shooting the suspect took the victim’s motorbike as the getaway vehicle. -0-
