CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY: Newly elected Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Rolando Uy on Tuesday pledged to strengthen the local police in the fight against illegal drugs and criminality here.
In a talked with the Mindanao Daily News, Uy said he will provide all the 10 existing police stations with brand new police cars to enable the police to immediately respond to calls for police assistance.
At present, most of the police stations in the city has no decent police patrol cars depriving the law enforcers of the required mobility that demands quick response.
Uy said that he will utilize the city’s approved intelligence funds in the fight against illegal drugs and all forms of criminality to be able to create a safer and peaceful community.
The City Council has approved a P 159 million intelligence fund for the incumbent and outgoing city Mayor Oscar Moreno for the year 2022.
However, a police officer who talked on condition he not be identified, said that the incumbent city administration failed to extend sufficient support to the local police. -0-
