This, after the city council in its regular session headed by city vice mayor Joaquin Uy, passed an ordinance authorizing the city mayor to sign a memorandum of agreement (MOA) representing the City Government of Cagayan de Oro and the regional office of the Department of Public Works and Highways, (DPWH) and collaborate for the establishment of “Bahay Pag-asa” ( House of Hope)
The project, if completed, will serve as center for the rehabilitation of minor offenders and those addicted to drugs. Violators of Section 49 of RA #9344 known as the Juvenile Justice System of 2006, as well as section 8 of RA 8369 known also as Family Courts Act of 1997
“Nakalatid sa MoA nga ang DPWH maoy mag-aprobar sa program of works, plans and specifications, construction methodology, project cost ug term duration ingon man pagsusi ug pagmonitor sa proyekto,” the press statement said in vernacular.
It may be recalled that all local governments all over the country are mandated to establish and build projects purposely to rehabilitated minor offenders and those being addicted to the prohibited drugs.
“Dako ang paglaum ni bise mayor Kikang Uy nga pinaagi sa maong facilidad makahatag kini og kadasig sa mga nagumon sa mga bisyo nga mosumete sa rehabilitasyon,” the local executive said in a press statement.
Meanwhile, the city government is hell-bent on the expansion program considering that Mother Teresa is too crowded already for juvenile delinquents and drug addicts undergoing rehabilitation. – JCE
