MSU system president graces intramulars 2022 in MSU-Gensan

Promoting solidarity and conquering new heights in the new normal, Mindanao State University – General Santos launched the Intramurals 2022 anchored with the theme, “MSU-GSC Now: Champion for Peace, Builder of the future.” Cheers of victory and excitement filled the MSU Open Field as MSUans gathered to witness the opening ceremony.

According to Aragasi, on the first day, November 20, the event opened with students and athletes from different colleges paraded wearing and flaunting their college colors and banners. The 11 competing colleges are the College of Agriculture, College of Business Administration and Accountancy, College of Education, College of Engineering, College of Fisheries, College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, College of Social Sciences and Humanities, School of Graduates Studies, College of Law Extension, Senior High School, and College of Medicine.

Winners of the Parade Competition are Champion – Senior High School, Ist Runner Up-College of Fisheries, Most Organized -College of Agriculture, Most Creative -Senior High School,

Most Participative-College of Fisheries,and Most Energetic- Senior High School.

In his opening remarks, Hon. John Michael Macaya, the SSC President, remarked, “The best things in life are not just trophies of victory sometimes [they] can be found in the process or should I say in the journey that matters the most.”

He emphasized that enjoyment, sportsmanship, camaraderie, and excellence in every aspect, are enough manifestations of the essence of Intramurals. “As we engage in the following activities and other events, it is not just about college versus college competing. Still, I hope that these activities will provide avenues to foster harmonious relationships for us to become ‘One MSU-Gensan.’”

Moreover, the Oath of Amateurism led by Rose Ann Garay was then followed by the College Shirts Showdown showcased by the college deans and students. Thereafter, the crowd was all hyped as the deans and college representatives raised their respective college banners.

Atty. Basari D. Mapupuno, the MSU System President expressed his delight and gratitude to all the MSU constituents, “The hauling of the opening ceremony of the week-long activities of the MSU-Gensan campus is a commendable endeavor that revitalizes the kindred spirit of unity and solidarity among MSU constituents.”

He also added that this program ushers a refreshing opportunity that not only facilitates sportsmanship and meaningful social engagement among our scholars but also strengthens the peace advocacy of the MSU System through the celebration of talents, promotion of cultural integration, and healthy athletic competition.

“As we formally welcome the start of this year’s intramurals of your campus, I am delighted to recognize MSU-Gensan’s firm commitment to pursue and realize varied means of promoting peace and well-being to sustain a vibrant and progressive learning institution in this locality.”

This was followed by the performances of the different colleges in the mass dance competition. The College of Engineering dominated the competition while the Senior High School bagged the 1st runner-up, and the 2nd runner-up was garnered by the College of Education.

To signify the start of the Intramural Games, the lighting of the symbolic torch was led by Manilyn Kapitan setting ablaze the spirit of camaraderie and sportsmanship. Thereafter, the event commenced with the official declaration of the opening of Intramurals 2022 by the Acting Chancellor JD Usman D. Aragasi, MPA.

On the same day, the 16 candidates for the most-awaited Ms. Intramurals 2022 took the center court to showcase their physique and poise. All the members of the competing teams were cheering and rooting for their respective representatives. The candidates oozed beauty and charms, donning their elegant and creative festival and playsuit attires. Finally, Ms. Hazel Jane Anating from the College of Education bagged the Miss MSU crown.

In solidarity with the celebrations, the University through the Alumni Relations Office hosted the Himamat 2022 at the Laktanan Reflex Garden, Library Building Grounds joined by the alumni of MSU-Gensan.
