Mrs. Elsie Musni Capistrano: Ulirang Ina 2019 (Ina ng Angkan)

The wife of a late scion of Kagay-anon Local Hero Gen. Nicolas Capistrano has been cited as one of the awardees during the 26th Anniversary Ulirang Ina Awards 2019 (Ina ng Angkan Category) held May 12, 2019 at the Manila Hotel Centennial Hall.

This award is given by the ULIRANG INA AMA AWARDS FOUNDATION, INC. every year to deserving mothers who demonstrated passion, dedication and sacrifice not only to their respective fields, but also to their families. 

The award was handed out by the foundation President, Wilfredo M. Talag and Foundation Honorary Chairperson, Justice Angelina Sandoval Gutierrez(ret.), who emphasized on the Filipino values and tradition and strengthening  of family ties.

The Ulirang Ina ng Angkan Award is given to mothers who have at least eight children or more and who was able to send at least three or all of the said children to school and earn a degree.

Mrs. Capistrano, not only managed to send all nine of her children to college, but all of them are already certified professionals in their own fields.

Mrs. ELSIE MUSNI CAPISTRANO was born on February 23,1955 in Bonifacio, Misamis Occidental.  She is one of the four Children of Dioscoro Tenchavez Musni and Nila Sy Delos Santos.

She is the widow of the late Mario Borromeo Capistrano, the only son of Nicolas Capistrano Jr. and Josefa Borromeo Capistrano (from the Borromeo Clan of Cebu).  

Nicolas Capistrano Jr. is the youngest of nine children of General Nicolas Capistrano, who commanded the Kagay-anon Forces against the American invaders during the Philippine-American War during the Battles of Cagayan de Misamis, Agusan Hill and Macahambus Hill. He was also the Senator for the 11th district of the First Philippine Senate in 1916.

Elsie is the mother of nine children namely: Patrick Bill M. Capistrano (Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Central Colleges of the Philippines); Joseph Nicolas M. Capistrano (Bachelor of Science in Manufacturing Engineering and Management, De La Salle University Manila); Mario M. Capistrano Jr. (Bachelor of Science in Electronics and Communications Engineering, De La Salle University Manila); Marielle Cecile M. Capistrano (BS in Interior Design, Assumption College Makati); Maria Theresa M. Capistrano(BS in Nursing, Perpetual Help College Manila); Martin Jose M.  Capistrano (BS in Nursing, La Consolacion College Manila); Maria Christina Victoria M. Capistrano (BS in Nursing, M.D., University of Sto. Tomas); Marcus Antonio M. Capistrano (BS in Electronics and Communications Engineering- Xavier University- Ateneo de Cagayan) andMarinela Isabelle M. Capistrano (BS in Business Economics (UP Diliman); 2nd year J.D. (Ateneo de Manila University).
