CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Philippines – Joint elements of the Philippine National Police in Northern Mindanao arrested a homicide suspect yesterday (Feb 15) at a public market in Cagayan de Oro.
The police identified the suspect as Ricardo Iyog, 57-year-old, married, and a resident of Brgy. Luz Banson, Jasaan, Misamis Oriental.
Iyog has long been wanted by the police for a crime of homicide docketed under criminal case number B- 2016-1382, with bail bond recommended of Php 40,000.00 dated October 3, 2017.
The CIDG report said after eight years of hiding in different places in Mindanao, the suspect was finally arrested by the joint team of police operatives at Puerto Public Market in this city.
The reported arrest was made based on the PNP’s “Oplan Pagtutugis,” which aims to arrest wanted persons who have committed various criminal offenses
Investigation disclosed that sometime in 2017, the suspect committed a crime of homicide somewhere in Cavite province in Luzon.
As such, a warrant of arrest was also issued for the crime of homicide by Hon. Eduardo E. Tancuanco, Presiding Judge, Regional Trial Court, Fourth Judicial Region, Branch 89, Bacoor City.
But the suspect went into hiding and travelled in Mindanao to elude arrest from pursuing police operatives in Cavite.
Until finally, he was seen and properly identified by the police while wandering at Puerto Public Market in cagayan de Oro, which also resulted to his arrest by the joint police operatives from CIDG, Cocpo, CFU together with CIDG RFU 10-RSOT and PS-6 COCPO. ###
