Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Oscar Moreno has ordered the closure of places where crowds may gather during the Lenten Week from March 27 to April 4.
His order came in the wake of the reported massive rise again of people contracted with the deadly coronavirus disease. (Covid-19)
The City Mayor feared that if these expected gatherings of faithfuls in famous places in the city will not be stopped, the rise of Covid cases in the city is very possible.
To seal his safety measures, Mayor Moreno issued an executive order on Friday, March 26, purposely to support the closure of these so-called “Panaad Destinations” which include Malasag Eco-village, Camarahan Ridge, Guadalupe Shrine, and other places which may also include Sinulom Falls.
While under the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) guidelines which allow religious services but only on a limited and controlled capacity of people inside churches and other places of worship. The order disallows religious activities such as processions and stations of the cross usually performed by the Roman Catholics.
The mayor’s executive order also includes the closure of beaches, resorts and amusement places. They will be closed also on the specified dates.
Police authorities and barangay tanods and barangay Officials are also advised to work together to make sure the minimum health standards, like physical distancing, wearing of face masks and face shields, coughing etiquette, and handwashing, are strictly monitored and implemented.
