MORENO ON AYUDA WOES: “I will be crucified by the people”

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY Mayor Oscar S. Moreno yesterday reiterated his concern on the seemingly slow turn out of cash distribution, as the City Government has committed to the regional office of the Department of Social Welfare and Development, to distribute said “ayuda” in fifteen days.

The City Mayor, during a press briefing, was worried the City Government cannot deliver the 15-day commitment and voiced out fears the remaining funds will be returned to DSWD.

“Nagpirma ko karon sa sulat asking for extension. Kay ug dili sila mosugot  na iuli natong kwarta Cel (referring to CIO chief Maricel Casiño-Rivera). Kay nag commit baya ta to distribute the money in 15 days,” Mayor Moreno said yesterday.

Moreno said the people will persecute them if the money will be returned to DSWD just because they weren’t able to distribute in due time as among their commitment to the DSWD regional office here.

Moreno said with the recent turn out of cash distribution in the barangays he is afraid the City Government cannot comply with the 15-day distribution period he has committed to the DSWD regional office during the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA).

“Masuko gyud ang mga tawo sa ato ana. Mao na ang challenge diha. Kay nagcommit baya ta nga atong iapod apod ang kwarta in fifteen days. We were fully aware of that. I hope nga mapaspasan kana kay worried baya ko ana. Basig dili nata saligan ana. Bikil na bikil, the worried City Mayor lamented.

READY FOR CRUCIFIXION

But Moreno said he will take responsibility if the 15-day cash distribution will fail.

“Wala nay laing basulon ana kita ra gyud. I will have to take responsibility ana kay ako mana tulubagon. So magpreparar nalang gyud ko nga magpa-crucify. Unsaon taman nagpasalig man ta pero dili nato kaya, the mayor said.

Mayor Moreno is still hopeful the regional office of DSWD will give an extension in the distribution after the lapse of a 15-day period as promised.

It can be recalled that the “cash distribution” of the national funds for ECQ-declared areas like Cagayan de Oro, allegedly started to dwindle when the list of the local DSWD did not coincide with the list of the barangays.

As a result of this dilemma, many barangays were delayed in the distribution process, which also resulted in non-compliance with the planned distribution schedule.
