MISAMS Oriental–Provincial Board Member Frederick Khu yesterday said that rice farmers will be soon acquire additiona; source of income.
Khu, also chair of the Committee of Agriculture in the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, said the province has just bought hybrid eggs.
He said the project is part of the duck-raising project of the province of Misamis Oriental under Governor Yevgeny Vincente “Bambi” Emano.
Khu said Governor Emano’s duck-raising project can also help the farmers in terms of their livelihood.
He said the eggs are now brought at the breeding house in Claveria town, Misamis Oriental.
When, he added, the eggs are hatched we will grow and when ready “we will distributed them to farmers.”
These are all hybrid–campbell and indian runner ducks, said Khu.
“Ang farmers sa humay ato siyang taga-an sa duckling kay kining mga duckling makatabang sab kay kini sila ang mokaon sa mga insekto sa ilang humayan,” Khu told Mindanao Daily News in an interview.
Khu said the province will soon be able to mass produce eggs which “we will also buy at Php7.50 eggs each.”
Sooner or later, Khu said, the province will become the source of fresh eggs for balut industry.
