MISAMIS ORIENTAL – Governor Yevgeny Vincente ‘Bambi’ Emano yesterday vowed to conduct an investigation into the fire that gutted down the Provincial Health Office Wednesday afternoon.
The fire department has yet to report the cause of the fire while the investigation is still going on.
The big fire burned a portion of the Philippine Red Cross (PRC), the source of many hospitals in the region for blood needs.
“Ato gyud nang imbestigahan kung unsay hinungdan sa sunog. Katawhan ang matood nga nanag iya niining property sa gobyerno nga nasunog so atong tulubagon ang pagpa imbestiga kung nganong nasunog kini,” the provincial governor said.
He said he facilitated the formal return of evacuees in Sitio Tikalaan early dawn yesterday and he was surprised upon returning in the afternoon as he saw the big fire that could no longer be controlled and stopped.
“Dako na kaayo ang kalayo pag abot nato karong hapon gikan sa kabukiran sa Claveria kay naghatud kita sa mga bakwit didto sa sitio Tikalaan, Claveria,” the governor pointed out.
Meanwhile, Provincial Board Member Gerardo Sabal said there were around 30 vials of Sinovac anti covid-19 vaccines inside the office that were all burned.
Dr Jerie Calingasan, PHO chief, in a separate media interview has clarified that only SINOVAC vials were burned and its ratio for use was only 1:1 This means only 30 persons can be inoculated with 30 Sinovac anti-covid vaccines.
The PHO office houses the laboratory, blood bank, medical supplies, and equipment intended for the provincial hospitals in Misamis Oriental.
