MisOcc imposes ‘general’ community quarantine

In an executive order, Tan ordered the travel restriction from all boundaries of the province from all sea ports and airports with the exceptions of government officials and employees working in Misamis Occidental, health workers, police personnel as well as ships, airplanes and trucks transporting and or delivering life support products and other materials for trade and consumption.  

Public utility buses, vans and jeepneys, and its passengers, coming from outside the province of Misamis Occidental shall not be allowed entry for the entire duration of the community quarantine.

Public transportation within the province is still allowed but with exceptions: operation shall only commence from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.; public transportation vehicles should be properly sanitized before and after every trip.

Further, Department of Transportation (DOTr) guidelines on social distancing and community quarantine requires one seat apart and passenger occupancy should not be more than half of the capacity of the vehicle including the driver.

There being absence of public transportation after 6 p.m., all persons requiring medical assistance or in cases of emergency, are directed to call the provincial coronavirus disease (COVID-19) hotline (0956-763-6079) or your local PNP Hotlines.

Tourists and visitors coming to the province of Misamis Occidental, or even returning residents who went outside of the province prior to the effectivity of the general community quarantine, shall not be allowed entry for its entire duration.

Transients, or people who are just passing through and whose intended and or final destination is not the province, may be allowed entry after strict and stringent scrutiny and upon determination that their entry will not pose a risk to the inhabitants of the province.

Tan also advised the residents to stay in their homes, and may only come out for work, to buy food, medicines and necessary supplies and go to medical centers.

Government work shall not be disrupted. However, government agencies within the province are encouraged to provide alternative work arrangements pursuant to Civil Service Commission memorandum.

All malls, recreational centers, community centers, and such other commercial areas are directed to limit their daily operational hours until 8 p.m. except grocery and convenience stores, medical centers and pharmacies, and other health care establishments.       

Sale of alcoholic drinks is temporarily prohibited in order to avoid social gatherings.

All private establishments are strongly encouraged to adopt flexible work arrangements pursuant to DOLE labor advisory.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Armed Forces of the Philippines 9AFP) shall provide enough personnel to man checkpoints in all entry points of the entire province.

All classes in both public and private educational institutions, at all levels within the territorial jurisdiction of the province of Misamis Occidental shall remain suspended until further notice.

The provincial leadership sees the need to put the entire province under General Community Quarantine in order to further protect the inhabitants and intensify the precautionary and safety measures of the province against COVID-19 virus. (SMRN/PIA10)
