CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY: Six rebels of the outlawed New People’s Army (NPA) surrendered to state forces as government troopers retrieved the decaying body of another rebel killed in a clashed in Bukidnon.
Maj. Lemuel D. Bacarro, spokesman of the army’s 8IB in Maramag, Bukidnon, said on Thursday that three of the surrenderers were NPA Team Leaders, two NPA Medics and one used to be the NPA Squad Leader operating around the 8IB area.
He said that the surrender took place Wednesday just as the patrolling military retrieved the decaying body of an NPA rebel identified only as “Prodo” on Tuesday in the hinterlands of Can-ayan village in Malaybalay, Bukidnon.
Bacarro said that surrendered NPA rebels identified the cadaver who was killed in an armed clashed with state forces on March 3, 2022.
