MGLEA awards hailed

  • Congressman Maxi  Rodriguez to sponsor House Bill that will institutionalize the project of Mindanao Daily News • Top government, private sector leaders acclaim Mindanao Governance and Leadership Excellence Awards (MGLEA)’s success


CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY –  The 1st Mindanao Governance & Leadership excellence awards, held Thursday, March 7 at Luxe Hotel, this city was “a great success”  in the words of government leaders, top civic organizations, youth, NGO and academe sectors  who attended the event organized by the Mindanao Daily News and sponsored by the Philippine Veterans Bank.

Congressman Rufus Rodriguez praised the efforts of the MGLEA organizers for giving recognition to Outstanding Mindanaonon leaders who should be known to the people of the island,  to promote the spirit of true governance and leadership traits. 

Congressman Maximo Rodriguez said he would pass a resolution in Congress to acknowledge the MGLEA awards project as a means to enhance the values of good governance and leadership whereby awardees of the search would be recognized of their merits, and to institutionalize the program as a tool to promote awareness for Mindanao.

Atty Tonton Neri, youth sector  awardee thanked that the MGLEA has provided a platform for the youth to be involved in good governance and leadership throughout the country.

Dr. Manny Jaudian, Academe Sector Awardee, praised the efforts of the organizers, as a good example, since, the highest position in the land today is in the person of President Rodrigo Duterte, a Mindanaonon excellent leader in governance.

Norma Monfort, NGO awardee from Davao City praised the MGLEA for giving honor to the Mindanaonon leaders in the private sector which is long overdue.

Rotary Club of Davao City president Edgar Bullecer said that the MGLEA awards is timely for them since this year is the centennial year of the Rotary Club International.

Prosecutor Alonto who represented MinDA Sec. Abudl Khayr Alonto thanked the MGLEA awards in behalf of his father, for giving honor  to brother Muslim leaders in the field of governance and leadership.

Dr, Jac Pimentel who represented Sen. Presidents Nene Pimentl and Koko Pimentel thanked the MGLEA for the great honor it has conferred to his family, saying the Mindanaonon leaders are indeed deserving the of the recognition.

Mayor Donato Chan of  Medina, Misamis Oriental said thru his representative that the  awards does no only boost  their  morale but motivates us to do more  for our constituents. “This recognition goes to my family and the people of Medina, Misamis Oriental,” added Chan’s representative.

Mayor Tata Castor Tan of  Diplahan, Zamboanga  Sibugay, said the MLGEA award for her is an inspiration to do more for her constituents in the field of governance and leadership excellence.

Atty Mark Garcia, representative of Mayor Zubiri of Malaybalay City said: “We accept this award for the recognition of our efforts, and we hope to serve more for our people.”

Mayor Jimuel Tan of Bonggao, Tawi-tawi – “ Salamat sa pagrecognize ng aming efforts sa municipality, “We take this  opportunity to invite all to visit Tawi-tawi so that you will see that our island is not a place of trouble and violence, but a paradise of tourism.”

Civil Service Awardee PP Isidro Butaslac urged the government officer to do their level best in the governance of their offices to promote the welfare of Mindanaoans.

LTFRB Director Manny Darimbang  stated thus: “Our family greatly appreciates this remarkable efforts of Mindanao Daily President and Publisher Engr. Dante M Sudaria and Editor Chief Allan Mediante and all contributors of the leading daily and its partner Philippine Veterans Bank for initiating this 1st Mindanaoan Governance and Leadership Excellence Award to recognize the contribution in nation building of deserving Mindanaoans in all sectors, government, private, civic organizations. My salute to all organizers of this prestigious event.”

The Mindanao Governance and Leadership Excellence Awards is aimed at giving due recognition to government leaders and private sector achievers who bring fame and honor to their communities.

The criteria for judging are consistency of best practices in governance (regulatory change, good management, utilization of technology and human resources management practices) – 20 percent; principled leadership (style – responsiveness to people needs through participatory service delivery, civic engagement, partnerships and resource mobilization for poverty reduction and local level development – 30 percent; and recognition & awards (ingenuity and originality in programs and projects conceptualization and implementation i.e. building cohesive local communities for a secure and peaceful environment, developing institutional and structural arrangements, management systems and tools that work – 30 percent.
