CAMP SIONGCO, Awang, DOS, Maguindanao del Norte – A medic of the communist terrorist group completely abandoned the armed struggle after he turned his back on the government.
According to Alyas Jean, 23 – years old, he decided to convert to the government because it no longer sees any hope in the terrorist group he belongs to.
Because of this, he decided to present himself to the Army based in Sitio Datal Kadi, Tasiman, Lake Sebu, South Cotabato, this week (May 21, 2023).
“Carrying his weapon of war which is an M16A1 rifle, he had the courage to respond to the call of the Army and the local government of Lake Sebu and South Cotabato to change his life and leave the complicated situation in the mountain hiding because of fear and fear of being attacked by government forces.” according to Lt. Col. Carlyleo Nagac, the leader of the 5th Special Forces Battalion.
Lt. said Col. Nagac alias Jean has been in the movement for 6 years providing medical attention to their wounded colleagues.
“I am grateful for the good treatment of the 5SFBn army. Here I fully understood that what the government wants is peace,” Alias Jean said.
Major General Alex Rillera, Commander of the 6th Infantry (Army) Division and Joint Task Force Central urged the remaining members of the terrorist group to follow in the footsteps of Alyas Jean.
“We welcome this wonderful decision of alias Jean in his life to give an opportunity for peace to prevail and also to change the course of his life away from harm”.
Because of this, the number of communist groups that have surrendered to the government since January of this year has now risen to 20.
