CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (MDN Local News, June 18) – The grand winner of the recently concluded “Mindanao Daily News FB Like and Share Challenge” was already identified during a traditional raffle draw held live over Facebook yesterday (June 17), hosted by the famous radio jock and MDN’s vice president for events and promotions, John Aaron del Bando.
The first promo grand winner is a Special Education (SPED) teacher from Camaman-an Elementary School, this city. She will receive a brandnew Huawei Y6 Pro, courtesy of MDN Publisher and CEO Dante M. Sudaria.
Her Facebook alias is Carms Laya but her real name is Maria Carmela S. Laya, single, and a resident of Ramon Chavez St, Cagayan de Oro City. She was a proud daughter of Lawyer Ismael S. Laya and Mrs Letecia S. Laya. She finished her degree, Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education at Xavier University (Ateneo de Cagayan), this city.

Maam Carms, as fondly called by friends and co-workers, has dedicated her life for 15 years now as an educator of children with special needs, mostly autistic kids and children with learning disability.
MDN digital was able to interview Ma’am Carms last night thru Facebook chat, and she said, she couldn’t believe she had won a brand new Huawei Y6 Pro cellphone.
Asked why she chose special education, Maam Carms answered: “I choose sped because I wanted to help children with disabilities. I wanted to help them become productive individuals in our country and to encourage them that they can also make a difference in our society.”
What is Sped?
A special education teacher is someone who works with children and youths who have a variety of disabilities. Children with special needs require unique instruction by specially trained professionals to help them achieve their highest potential and strive to progress beyond their limitations.

MDN contacted her last night to inform her that she won but all efforts proved futile as she did not respond to our call.
Another winner of P300 load consolation prize was Noralyn Mapano Durano, a singer and musician who also lives in Cagayan de Oro for many years now. She has two kids and a loving husband.
MDN messaged her in Facebook and informed her that she won P300 worth of load, and she can claim it at anytime, but the very young mother of two kids did not respond to our message yet. Hopefully, she will get her prize in one week’s time. ###
