STA. CRUZ, Davao del Sur – Mayoralty aspirant in Sta. Cruz town, this province, has promised to build a hospital whether he wins or not in the upcoming elections.

Incumbent councilor Nelson “Tata” Sala said he has already purchased a two-hectare lot where he will build the hospital as the people badly needed health care services in this pressing times of the global pandemic.

Sala, who is also the Philippine Councilors’ League (PCL) interim national president, went to the Commission on Elections office Thursday (October 7) and filed her certificate of candidacy.

Sala told the media in interviews that he will offer his own property for the establishment of a hospital in the municipality, which he said, very necessary as Covid-19 escalates.

“I already bought a two-hectare land intended for the hospital. Whether I will win or not, I will donate it to the province,” he told newsmen.

He said hospital care is one of the common problems the town is facing because people find it very hard to look for medical care and treatment when the need arises.

“Hospital establishment is really my priority,” Sala pointed out.

Meanwhile, Councilor Sala became controversial in the town after he led the legislative body to refuse the plan of the incumbent mayor to secure loans for the establishment of infrastructure for the administration’s health care programs.

Sala claimed: “We don’t need to borrow money. We can ask help from the national government for our projects.”

“If you think that I am not rightful for the position, don’t vote for me. But if you vote for me, I will make sure to improve Sta. Cruz,” he concluded. (PNA)
