Mayor Sara says Davao Covid19 Taskforce requests for booster shots for frontliners

DAVAO CITY – Mayor Sara Z. Duterte announced Monday that the Davao City Covid-19 Task Force has requested the Department of Health regional office 11 (DOH-11) to provide booster shots for frontliners in hospitals.

Through a resolution, the mayor said, the taskforce cited the depleted number of healthcare workers in both government and private, thus the need to protect the remaining frontliners in said hospitals.

It can be recalled that thousands of healthcare service providers have contracted the deadly virus, and worst, many have also died.

“It was discussed and that was the action of the Covid-19 Task Force. We passed a resolution seeking permission and requesting the approval from DOH-11,” Mayor Sara said.

She also pointed out that the outbreaks in the city’s hospitals were to blame for the depleted number of healthcare professionals.

“It has been the [perennial problem] in the hospitals since last year,” Mayor Duterte said.

The City Mayor also reminded the populace of Davao City to strictly observe minimum public health standards to help the city government and the frontliners.

Mayor Duterte has also reiterated that work-from-home, as well as the skeletal force would continue among the city government employees to help control the surge of the deadly virus.

“It is something we need to do. It is our contribution to our health workers inside the hospitals who are tired, overworked, and swamp with Covid-19 cases. We endeavor to reduce the infections among City Government of Davao employees so that if there’s a reduction of infections among our employees, we are less of a burden to our health care workers,” she concluded.
