Mayor Isko Moreno to lead PLM’s 55th foundation day celebration, turnover of site for new campus

Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso will speak before the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM) as the University celebrates its 55th founding anniversary.

The celebration, which will be held on Monday, June 20, 2022 at the Justo Albert Auditorium, will also mark the ceremonial turnover of the old Ospital ng Maynila (OM) building by the City Government of Manila to PLM.

The building will be retrofitted to accommodate College of Medicine students, also with the support of the city government. Members of the PLM management will be coordinating with the City Engineer’s Office for renovation plans.

Mayor Domagoso committed the Ospital ng Maynila facility to PLM in August 2021 and is seeing this promise through. The hospital will move to a 10-storey, fully air conditioned facility fully funded by the city government.

The old building will now be called the PLM Allied Health Sciences Campus and will allot classrooms and laboratories for the College of Nursing, College of Physical Therapy, and possibly the College of Science.

PLM will likewise hand out service awards for its outstanding employees, which includes those who have spent 10 to 40 years working for the University. Staff and faculty members who have pursued Career and Self-Development, as well as posthumous recognitions for employees who have passed away, will be awarded on Monday.

University President Emmanuel Leyco and Board of Regents chairman Dr. Francisco Roman, Jr. will also deliver messages before the PLM community.

“We are delighted to celebrate PLM’s 55 years of academic excellence and dedicated service to the City of Manila, the country, and society,” President Leyco said. “This would not have been possible without our loyal employees, competent faculty members, University executives, and of course, our hardworking students.”

This year’s celebration is guided by the theme “Sustaining Quality Education and Excellent Service,” inspired by PLM’s guiding principles of Karunungan, Kaunlaran at Kadakilaan.
