Matungao, LDN placed under lockdown

Provincial Governor Imelda ‘Angging’ Quibranza-Dimaporo issued Executive Order (EO) No. 25 on August 14, 2020 placing  Matungao under lockdown from 12:01 AM of August 15 until 11:59 PM of August 29.

According to the Provincial Incident Management Team (IMT), the EO was issued due to the urgency of curtailing the spread of the coronavirus and the need to protect the health and security of the general populace of Matungao, its nearby municipalities, and the whole province.

This, after an employee of the municipal government of Matungao was confirmed positive of COVID-19 on August 6. Moreover, the non-cooperation of some employees and officials made the effort of contact tracing more difficult limiting the possibility of immediately identifying individuals suspected of acquiring COVID-19 and containing its transmission.

As of the time of issuance of EO No. 25, a total of 17 confirmed cases were recorded in Matungao, ten (10) are local transmission through contact with the said employee, six (6) are locally stranded individuals, and one index case acquired possibly from outside the province.

Under EO No. 25, the Armed Forces of the Philippines, the Provincial Police Office, and the Incident Management Team were ordered to coordinate with each other for the strict enforcement of the lockdown and supervision of the situation in Matungao.

Meanwhile, the Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte is calling all residents of Matungao to abide by the EO and cooperate with the government employees and officials tasked to oversee the implementation of the lockdown. They are also mandated to voluntarily submit when required to undergo a swab test and share relevant information during the conduct of contact tracing for the safety and protection of the general public.
