DAVAO DEL SUR – Vice Governor Marc Douglas Cagas, the only son of the late governor who just died of covid-19 complications, has immediately assumed post as the new governor of the province by law of succession.
The second district’s senior board member John Tracy Cagas also assumed his new post as the province’s new vice governor.
Mercedes Cagas, the lone district representative is also suffering from unknown illness and she was still treated at the hospital. Rep Mercedes is the wife of the late governor and Marc is their only son.
Councilor Salvador Dumogho, in his Facebook account, also showed a photo of Digos City Mayor Josef Cagas signing John Tracy and Marc Douglas’s oath of office.
Sherwin Cesar, the provincial information officer of Davao del Sur also announced during a radio program at Charm Radio regarding the two officials in the province that were recently sworn to their new top posts.
Menwhile, the the late governor’s remains was also immediately cremated at a funeral home in Davao City around 10am last Thursday, and it was also immediately transported back to Davao del Sur by his immediate family members, it was learned.
Assistant provincial information officer Gustavo Undalok said the family has yet to determine which area to place the governor’s urn, to allow supporters to pay final respects to their beloved governor for many long years. – (PNA)
