SARANGANI PROVINCE – Senator Emmanuel Dapidran Pacquiao officially launched his presidential bid in next year’s national and local elections, posing a threat to President Duterte’s succession plans.
The ruling party’s PDP-Laban elected Pacquiao on Sunday during a video-streamed national convention. But another faction led by Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi has chosen Senator Christopher “Bong” Go to run as president with Pres. Duterte as his VP..
“Today, I boldly accept the challenge of running as PRESIDENT of the Republic of the Philippines, with a message to those who are taking advantage of the Filipino people: Your Time is up!,” Pacquiao said.
The Filipino boxer said the people needs a government that will serve its people with integrity, compassion and transparency.
Pacquiao said all his life he is courageously facing the challenges and he came out victorious.
Mga kababayan, we need progress. We need to win against poverty.”
Pacquiao added he is more than ready to rise to the challenge of leadership.
“The time is now. We are ready to rise to the challenge of leadership.
“Ako po ay naniniwala, even the impossible can happen if it is ordained by the Lord. Kaya lalaban tayo! Samahan niyo po ako! Maraming salamat po at Mabuhay ang Pilipinas!”
