MAMASAPANO, Maguindanao – The town mayor and its officials have decided to close the Mamasapano town hall after one of the employees was confirmed positive of the deadly coronavirus disease.

Mayor Akmad Ampatuan Jr, told reporters that the local interagency task force on Covid-19 has started the disinfection and decontamination activities to get rid of the virus and ensure the safety of more than 100 of its workforce in government.

It was learned that the result of the reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction of the infected government worker was released Tuesday, confirming him/her positive of the deadly virus.

The mayor said: “Basic services to our clients will continue with our personnel working from home while on a seven-day isolation.”

Mayor Ampatuan said the constituents should not be alarmed as all barangay governments are functioning. All matters which can be addressed in the barangay level are only referred to the village officials for appropriate actions.

“The closure of the town hall is temporary, business transactions may be done online or clients can wait until Tuesday, Oct. 19,” Mayor Ampatuan pointed out.

The mayor also announced that Monday, October 18, is a Muslim holiday in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao as the Muslims commemorate “Maulidin Nabi” or the birth of Prophet Mohammad.

The mayor told his people to go to their village officials or visit the local government’s social media pages for more updates – (PNA)
