Malacañang want to Fasttrack Marawi rehab,said Lanao Sur Representative

Cagayan de Oro-The House Representative’s Ad Hoc Committee on Marawi rehabilitation and victims compensation visited the Islamic city of Marawi on Tuesday to conduct public hearing and ocular inspection after House Speaker Martin Romualdes ordered the committee to Fasttrack the rehabilitation.

Eight members of the House of Representatives mostly from Mindanao attended the said public hearing held at the Capitol Gymnasium in Marawi City.Lead by Lanao del Sur 1st District Congressman Zia Alonto Adiong,the hearing was attended by Representative Geraldine Roman of the 1st District of Bataan,Cong.Cheeno Almario of the 2nd District of Davao Oriental,Congresswoman Margarita Nograles of PBA Partylist,Cong.Yevgeny Vincente Emano of the 2nd District of Misamis Oriental,Cong.Mujiv Hataman of Basilan and Cong.Ramon Rodrigo Gutierrez of 1-Rider Partylist.

The party visited the relocation site in the village of Maa were a big relocation site was located at around 1,500 houses,then visited the ground zero ans the infrastructure development that was already erected such as the grand mosque and Marawi Sports Complex to name a few.

Congressman Gutierrez saw the potential of Marawi and its tourism and contemplating to bring along riders in the country to visit the place specially at the ground zero were some Portion if it will be preserved as memorabilia of the siege that strucked almost the whole city proper.

Congressman Emano of Misamis Oriental on the other hand support the move of Gutierrez to look into the potential of the tourism aspect of the city specially their unique landscape of mountain ridges ,its good climate condition and the beauty of Lake Lanao.Emano also plan to invite some foreign investors to immerse at least in a week to feel the tranquility of the new Marawi City.

Lanao del Sur 1st District Congressman Zia Alonto Adiong who presided the public hearing said that the objective of the hearing is to ask the latest update of the development of the rehabilitation since President Bongbong Marcos asked the Congress addressed to the speaker to Fasttrack the rehabilitation process of Marawi City including the victims compensation.The Ad Hoc Committee was focused on the reintegration of the rehabilitation from its housing,water and electric power needs.

Assistant Secretary Felix de Castro of the Presidential Adviser for Marawi rehabilitation attended also the public hearing and said that the present administration allocated a total of Php167 Million for the rehabilitation and reported that still at par at 30% accomplishment as far as rehabilitation is concern with 1,500 houses are being built out of 1,800 units allocation.

“I’m happy for the development when Malacanang itself intervene with the fasttracking of Marawi rehabilitation that delayed already for around 7 years now”Adoing said over a Press Conference before the public hearing started.Attending the public hearing are Bangsamoro Autonomous Region for Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) Governor Mamintal “Bombit” Adiong, some Mayors of Lanao del Sur nearby Marawi City,Marawi City Village chiefs,Representatives of the National Government agencies such as National Housing Authority (NHA),Local Water Utility Administration (LWUA), National Electrification Administration (NEA), National Grid corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) , Philippine Army(PA) and Philippine National Police(PNP).

To show that the present administration is really determine on its order to fast track the rehabilitation of the war strucked Marawi City, Department of National Defense (DND) Secretary Gibo Teodoro will visit the city on June 7 together with Secretary Nasser Pangandaman.

Asec Castro also announced during the public hearing that NEA was approved the condonation of electric bills to Lanao del Sur Electric Cooperative (Lasureco)from the consumers who are mostly affected by Marawi seige.
