Loose firearms in Maguindano del Sur continue to be dismantled

CAMP SIONGCO, Awang, DOS, Maguindanao del Norte – As a result of the government’s intensified campaign against the proliferation of loose firearms, seven individuals voluntarily turned over various weapons from the barangays of Datu Anggal Midtimbang, Maguindanao del Sur this Wednesday morning (May 24, 2023).

With the help of 2Mech Bn led by Lt. Col. Tristram Tolentino turned over firearms which included three (3) Cal.30 M1 Rifles, one (1) M14 Rifle, one (1) Uzi 9mm, two (2) 12 Gauge Shotguns and one (1) M16 Rifle from in the Barangays of Brar, Mapayag, Adaon, Midtimbang, Tulunan, Nunangan and Tugal.

According to Brigadier General Oriel Pangcog, 601Bde Commander, Datu Anggal Midtimbang Mayor Mary Joy Estephanie Midtimbang led the “Balik-Biril” Program which was conducted at the Municipal Covered Court in Barangay Adaon in the said town with the military and police Datu Anggal Midtimbang Municipal Police Station .

“We continue to remind our countrymen who have weapons to make sure they have the appropriate documents so that they don’t end up in prison and if they have unregistered firearms, they can contact the nearest police station if they want to surrender them”, according to Brig. . Gen. Pangcog.

Maj. praised. Gen. Alex Rillera, Commander of 6ID and JTF Central the 2Mech Bn and 601Bde in their efforts to stop the spread of loose firearms.

“Surrendering weapons of war without proper documents is equivalent to a more peaceful life and their rejection of violence. I assure that we will continue to dismantle loose firearms to make this part of Mindanao more peaceful,” said Maj. Gen. Rillera.
