COCPO- PCOL HENRY G DAMPAL, City Director reported to PBGEN ROLANDO B ANDUYAN that COCPS10 personnel under the supervision of PCPT EDIE AKUT responded for a call for police assistance that a Cargo Ship bearing name Kheri 10 which was on standby/ docked at the bay of Purok 6, Tablon Cagayan de Oro City near General Milling Corporation at about 1:00 PM of May 8, 2020.
PCOL DAMPAL stated that responding elements received reports at more or less 4:00 in the afternoon of same date which led them to respond.
Initial investigation disclosed that a certain Aristone Calad y Servidad, 65 years old, a native of Deplahan, Zamboanga Sibugay a 2nd Engineer of said vessel was found lifeless on his bunker. Further, DAMPAL said that the victim was sufferring for a severe cough, cold, and fever with the span of five (5) days. The said mariner allegedly experiencing body fatigue caused by massive loading of cargoes sometime on May 3, 2020, as per statement of a 28-year-old 3rd Engineer of the ship identified as Rhey Palis y Lampas.
The cadaver temporary lies inside vessel at the aforesaid place.
The management is on the process of informing the family of the deceased. Barangay Tablon BHERT is conducting close coordination with the City Health Officials and the Management of the Dead Body Cluster for the protocol.
COCPO leadership directed the concern Investigator on Case (IOC) to conduct thorough investigation and must observe guidelines being set by the IATF/DOH amidst this pandemic.
