THE Department of Health (DOH) 10 recognized the Liceo de Cagayan University Alumni Association in rites held Monday (November 28) in grateful recognition of the organization’s unwavering support and contribution in the promotion of voluntary blood donation for the achievement of the vision of Republic Act (RA) 7719, otherwise known as The National Blood Service Act of 1994.
Liceo de Cagayan University Alumni Association president Tessie Cebedo reported that for this year alone, the group has conducted two blood donation drives already, one in July and the other earlier this month.
As of press time, it was not known yet how many bags were collected in the November 19 event held at Liceo Civic Center but during the July segment, the group was able to garner 158 donors.
Dubbed as Dugo Mo Buhay Ko, many groups helped in the event such as the Philippine Army’s 4th Infantry Division, Rotary Club of Kalayaan Cagayan de Oro, Rotaract Club of Kalayaan CDO, Philippine Army’s 4th Signal Battalion, Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Northern Mindnaao District, Philippine Air Force Tactical Operations Group (TOG) 10, Alpha Kappa Rho, Licean ’83, Licean ’84, BSN ’78, Batch 86, Liceo High School Batch 88, Liceo HS ’91, HS 92 Dream Team, Batch 1994, Batch 97 Bison and the 98 Centennials.
The Sandugo award is given to local government units, government organizations or units, private sector and individuals in appreciation of their contributions and support to the National Voluntary Blood Service.
Meanwhile, more projects have been undertaken by the Liceo de Cagayan University Alumni Association under Cebedo’s term. They are a tree planting, mangrove planting and Brigada Eskwela.
