CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – Armed with a warrant of arrest, a mayoralty aspirant in Lagonglong town, Misamis Oriental, was arrested the other day (April 19) by police authorities.
The police identified the suspect as Danilo Gadrinab, 51. Gadrinab is seeking a mayoral seat in the upcoming May 9, 2022 national and local elections, it was learned.
Judge Henry Damasing of the Regional Trial Court Branch 24 issued the warrant of arrest against the suspect.
Based on the documents, the court has recommended a bail bond of Php 72,000 for Gadrinab’s temporary liberty. Gadrinab, the documents says, works as a civil engineer and he is also an independent candidate for mayor in Lagonglong municipality.
In an interview with the media, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) confirmed that a local businessman filed the estafa case against the suspect for his unpaid obligations.
CIDG Chief Major Gerson Soliven said the complainant was a supplier of construction materials, with whom the suspect had transactions for many months already. However, the suspect has failed to settle his monetary obligations despite several notices.
Gadrinab clarified that his own clients who have ordered the construction materials have not paid him which also resulted in the delayed settlement of his obligations to the complainant.
The suspect is now languishing at the CIDG Misamis Oriental custodial facility, police authorities said.
