La Viña assumes Phividec top post

MANILA –Jose Gabriel “Pompee” La Viña has assumed another government post,  this time as Administrator and Chief Operating Officer of PHIVIDEC Industrial Authority.
    
La Viña took his oath before Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana in a ceremony held at Camp Aguinaldo in Quezon City Wednesday, Sept. 16 at 10 AM. He replaced Lawyer Franklin Quijano who was transferred to the National Commission of Senior Citizens as Chairman and CEO  under the Office of the President. 
    
President Rodrigo Duterte earlier signed his appointment paper as Phividec Administrator and Chief Executive Officer.
    
La Viña said he will uphold the gains of his predecessor and vowed to reinvigorate further the mandate of PHIVIDEC Industrial Authority as the premier investment hub of  Mindanao. 
    
PHIVIDEC-IA manages, administers, and supervises the 3,000-hectare Phividec Industrial Estate in Misamis Oriental (PIE-MO). 
    
PIE-MO, a government-controlled corporation is located in the municipalities of Tagoloan and Villanueva in Misamis Oriental. 
    
PIE-MO is one of the country’s largest industrial estates.
    
La Viña is an alumnus of the Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU), graduating Magnan Cum Laude with a degree in Philosophy. 
    
He  holds a Master’s degree in Entrepreneurship (Superior Performance) from the Asian Institute of Management. 
    
In June 2017, La Vina attended the Leaders in Development Program in John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.
    
He spent more than three decades in private firms in various industries, including real estate, cooperative banking, automobile sales , supply chain management, music entertainment, among others. 
    
One of Duterte’s staunchest supporters, La Viña served as the Social  Media  Director of his presidential campaign and was also a member of the Media  Central and Communications  Group. 
    
As Composer/Arranger/Record Producer, he was responsible in the production of  the video “Duterte Para sa Tunay na Pagbabago” performed by Freddie Aguilar. 
    
He helped craft Duterte’s social media strategy for the presidential campaign. 
    
La Vina had served as SSS Commissioner where he chaired the Investment Oversight and Media and Communications Committees and was a member of the IT and Risk Committees. He also represented the SSS as Board Director of Philex Mining Corp and Philex Energy Corp.
    
He also had a short stint as the DOT Undersecretary assigned to oversee the Regional Offices, China Foreign Offices, Ecotourism, Farm Tourism nd  Faith Tourism.
    
La Vina was also appointed Undersecretary of the Department of Agriculture where he served as Chair of the Honorary Advisory of the Belt and Road International Food Expo in Hongkong.
