Klarex files 22 counts of cyber libel vs Ocon

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – Congressman and now mayoralty candidate of this city, Rolando “Klarex” Uy, has filed 22 counts of cyber libel against incumbent City Councilor and radio block timer Zaldy Ocon yesterday at the City Prosecutor’s Office.

Earlier, a concerned citizen Mr Julie Candia has also filed 15 counts of libel against the radio commentator.

The cyber libel case stemmed from Ocon’s alleged attacks during his block time radio program first aired at Magnum Radio, in which Ocon said the congressman was a drug lord.

Ocon alleged that Rep Uy was on the narcolist but PDEA 10 denied Ocon’s allegations, saying there was no name of the congressman in their previous lists since last year.

Candia in an interview with the media said no one took action against Ocon’s baseless allegations against the Uy family.

He said he was hurt when Ocon pinpointed Rep Uy as among the number 45 in the reported narco list. “Gisakitan ko sa iyang allegations nga drug lord si Congressman Uy tungod maayo ug buotan nga pamilya ang mga pamilya Uy,” Candia said

Uy and Ocon were in one roof when they won in the last elections in 2018 with Mayor Oscar S Moreno. Uy was re-elected for the third term, Mayor Moreno also won as City Mayor for his last term, including Zaldo Ocon as City Councilor of this city for the third time.

RIFT BETWEEN UY AND ZALDY

It was learned the rift between Zaldy Ocon and Rep Uy started allegedly when his request to make his wife the vice-mayoralty candidate on next year’s elections was reportedly denied by the Kaabag group led by the congressman.

But Rep Uy also denied Ocon’s statements, saying he has no knowledge that his (Ocon’s) wife was interested in running for the vice-mayoralty post of the city.

“Wa man ko kabalo nga gusto diay modagan pagka vice mayor iyang asawa,” Rep Uy said in an earlier interview with the Oro media.

(I did not know that Ocon’s wife was interested for the vice mayoralty post)

Ocon also accused the Uy’s of only using him.
