FIFTEEN-year-old Joseayn Dennies Albasin from Cagayan de Oro City is one of the 12 finalists this year for the AIESEC Youth Leadership Awards 2021 of Ateneo de Manila University.
AIESEC is an international association of Economics students and is the world’s largest youth-run organization with more than 88,000 members globally. AIESEC at AdMU is one of the prestigious college-based student groups in the country.
The AIESEC in Ateneo Youth Leadership Awards 2021 aims to recognize the youth who have been creating a positive impact in their community.
Albasin (who is affectionately called Chill) is a finalist under the Junior Enterprising Mind of the Year category.
Chill is head teacher and innovator of Play Learn and Grow with Chill, a class which aims to help nurture and inspire young minds to grow into confident and active individuals.
A Voice Teens season 2 alumna, Chill uses her musical influence to civic concerns. For instance, she spearheaded the donation drive/charity recital last December 2020 for the benefit of the girls (ages seven to 18) who need special care, of the Youth with A Mission Nehemiah House. The girls were provided with their personal hygiene kit, basic clothing and food good for two months.
She is also a volunteer-performer for The Maestro Christmas concert which provided assistance to the underprivileged children with special needs of The Heart at Play Foundation.
As part of C9 local dance crew, Chill is a dance teacher/performer for Ayala Mall’s Mall into Shape, a national online activity for everyone at home to dance, to learn a new choreography, to get healthy and stay in shape amidst the pandemic. (C9 is a lineup member of the prestigious Domination HIPHOP Ph.)
Other artistic credentials include being best performer (PSF Theatre Festival – Manila) as cast of KATIPS the Musical run by the Philippine Stagers Foundation.
Occasionally, she also performs in weddings and corporate events.
A multi-talented person, Chill is a wushu practitioner and a chess varsity in her elementary years. She is also a member of X-Unified (KPOP) as well as Earth champion (ambassadress) at Little Miss Earth Philippines in 2014.
A consistent anti-bullying advocate since childhood, her efforts have been recognized by beauty queens, bloggers and influencers alike.
Chill has been consistently donating boxes of kiddie vitamins which she personally solicited from pharmaceutical companies, to school children.
She was part of the student body which provided and personally handed food and medical kits to the soldiers during the Marawi siege.
She joined the outreach activity of Rotateens (Surigao City Chapter) by sending them boxes of vitamins and school kits to be given away;
and a teacher assistant yearly in school-related outreach activities directed to the public neighboring schools.
She is also part of the team promoting PADYAK PH’s H2H project in cooperation with The Japan Foundation Manila and Likha ph (a dance movement community).
For her numerous involvements at a young age, Albasin received the 20 Most Empowered Women in CDO award, the Youth Leadership Excellence Award (Jaycees) and Student Leader Award (SM Cares).
Chill graduated junior high just recently at Oro Christian Grace School and will enter her senior high leading to collegiate studies this August at University of Asia and the Pacific to take up a degree in Integrated Marketing Communication.
“Trust your own training process and do not compare your growth and small victories to others. When you only want the best result, you will do everything in your power (correctly and kindly) to get there. Everything else will follow,” Chill says.
