On July 20th every year mountain bikers around the world are invited to blow off all other obligations and simply go and ride their mountain bikes! Riders all over the world in all regions and skill levels are invited to join in on the fun!
#RIDEMTBDAY is an annual movement of community-based events around the globe with mountain bike brands, media, professionals, retailers, parks and local riders everywhere – each showing their love and support for the sport of mountain biking by holding group rides, fundraisers, races and demos.
With promotion and support from Mountain Bike brands, advocacy groups and athletes, the first #RIDEMTBDAY in 2018 gathered participants from over 40 countries and created tens of thousands social media hashtags and impressions. Most importantly, it gave mountain bikers an excuse to get out and ride together all over the world.
For 2019, Fox Sports takes #RIDEMTBDAY to the next level by helping promote the day with even more industry partners globally. Fox will be supporting a number of events globally and promoting the fact that #RIDEMTBDAY doesn’t belong to any group or person but to all Mountain Bikers the world over.
“The sport of Mountain Biking has an incredible culture and Ride MTB Day is a great way to celebrate it. Ride MTB Day is not a Fox-owned event, but our goal is to have the concept adopted by the entire industry and raise mountain bike awareness and participation. We look forward to more and more brands and retailers supporting Ride MTB Day year after year.” – Dave Ahumada, Global Marketing Manager, Fox MTB.
On this day, each year, mountain bikers will gather together at local trails, bike parks, and bike shops and even enjoy solitary rides, helping to bring riders all over the world together.
Launched last June 23 at R.O.X. Centrio, this will be the first time the Philippines and Cagayan de Oro are joining the event. Simultaneous rides will also be held in Manila, Bacolod, Cebu and Davao.
The initial ride will be limited to 200 riders for safety and security reasons. Registration is P500 and entitled the rider to event jersey, post-ride meal and discount coupons. The 27 kilometer ride starts 6AM and ends at High Ridge.
The Cagayan de Oro Route is good for beginners and first time Trails. Remember: This is a FUN RIDE Event and not a competition.
Regs Garcia, president of the Cagayan de Oro-based mountain bike group C.O.M.B.A.T. explained the ride rules to us.
Basically, ride rules are simple: No Helmet. No hydration bottle. No Mountain Bike. No ride.
#RIDEMYMTBDAY is exclusively for Mountain Bikes only.
Event jersey must be properly worn during the event, and riders should faithfully follow instructions of the Event Marshalls.
Interested mountain bikers who wish to join can register at the R.O.X. store at the 2nd floor of Ayala Centrio, and more information is available from www.ridemtbday.com
