JTFC’s forces get a boost with the new ‘game changer assets’

Camp Siongco, Awang, DOS, Maguindanao – The Joint Task Force Central and the 6th Infantry (Kampilan) Division are now even stronger due to the arrival of eight new self-propelled 155mm Autonomous Truck Mounted Howitzer Systems (ATMOS 2000) in the 7th Field Artillery (Steel Rain) Battalion at Camp Lucero, Brgy. Nasapian, Carmen, North Cotabato.

Early morning today, (October 1, 2022), Colonel Francis Anthony M. Coronel, Commander of the Army Artillery Regiment; Lieutenant Colonel Raquel Vilchez, Commander of the 7FAB; Lt. Col. Chamberlain Esmino Commander of 10FAB; and Brig. Gen. Jovencio Gonzales, 602nd Infantry (Liberator) Brigade Commander presented the newest and biggest gun in Philippine Army arsenals to Major General Roy M Galido, Commander of the 6ID and JTF Central, together with the troops of AAR.

“Because of these new assets, we will further strengthen our ability to suppress terrorism and insurgency here in Central and South-Central Mindanao, and able to defeat the state’s enemies to prevent them from sowing violence,” MGen. Galido said.

The Division Commander personally inspected the said assets at the ground of 7FAB where the eight ATMOS were displayed. He further asserted that these enemies of the state would not be able to escape with these new assets.

In this regard, MGen. Galido continues to call on the extremist groups to return to the folds of the law and put an end to sowing violence so that peace can have a chance to win out.

It was learned that eight out of twelve of the military’s so-called “game changer” assets arrived at Camp Lucero yesterday afternoon after arriving on Thursday morning (September 29) at Makar Port in General Santos City.

It aims to modernize the Philippine Army in order to be more effective in protecting the people and securing the state.
