CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY: The Local Water Utility Administration (LWUA) on Wednesday installed Fermin Jarales as the interim General Manager of the Cagayan de Oro City Water District (COWD) here.
Jarales, former political adviser of Misamis Oriental Gov. Peter Unsbia, was accompanied by personnel from LWUA, to act as the interim manager of the COWD past noon Wednesday.
Armed with a letter dated May 29, 2024 the LWUA personnel together with Jarales entered the COWD office to announced the “full intervention” of the COWD operation’s effective immediately.
The letter signed by Julius Paolo G. Basa, LWUA corporate board secretary, reminded the COWD officials of the full six months intervention of the operations of the COWD.
The full intervention was to implement the approved LWUA’s board of trustees resolution dated May 17, 2024 for the complete interim takeover of the COWD.
Early Wednesday morning, LWUA Chairman Ronnie Ong paid a courtesy call to City Mayor Rolando Uy informing the city executive of the temporary takeover of the city’s water district.
With the enforcement of the full intervention, the current COWD Board of Directors and the General Manager cease to function following the LWUA’s appointment of the interim board of directors and the interim general manager.
The names of the new members of the board of directors were released Wecdnesday afternoon
