Inaugural trips for Cagayan De Oro-Cotabato bound buses start today

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – Good news to the riding public! The inaugural trips of Cagayan de Oro – Cotabato City bound trips and vice versa started today, May 6, 2021.

This was announced by the executives of Rural Transit Mindanao, Inc (RTMI) during the formal launching held yesterday in Cotabato City.

During the launch, it was also announced that the travel fare is pegged at P541 for straight travel from CDO to Cotabato, but students and senior citizens would still enjoy their 20 percent mandatory discount.

RTMI officials als announced that as per approved official trips of their buses, it would start around 5:00am and the last trip would be 2pm. Travel time to this new route is estimated at 5-6 hours, according to the report.

The premier bus company in Mindanao would initially deploy 10 brand new buses equipped with the top-of-the-line features including the GPS system.

The bus management also said they are on strict compliance of the minimum health standards in this times of the pandemic to ensure safety of the riding public. Regular disinfections of their buses will be implemented and all passengers should wear face shields, face masks and bring their own alcohol to also disinfect themselves.

Last month, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board has issued permits to the Rural Transit Mindanao Incorporated (RTMI) to operate buses plying the routes of Cagayan de Oro to Cotabato City and vice versa.

As this developed, the regional office of LTFRB has prepared the documents for the opening of some units of Rural Transit Bus from Cagayan de Oro City, and through the town of Talakag Bukidnon, to the towns of Banisilan, Alamada, Libungan, Pigcawayan, Sultan Kudarat and in Cotabato City.

John Del Castillo, RTMI Manager based in Bulua, this city, said the citizens of both Cagayan de Oro and Cotabato City will no longer have difficulty, like travel time to Cotabato City and vice versa has been made shorter now.

It was also learned that the City Government of Cotabato has also entered an agreement to the entry of Rural Transit Bus.

RTMI, which is based in Cagayan de Oro City, is a sister company of Mindanao Star Bus Transport Incorporated (MSBTI) which is based in Davao City.
