CAMP ALAGAR, Cagayan de Oro City – Anti-illegal drug campaign in Northern Mindanao from January to October, this year, netted an estimated street value of P 62,403,477, the regional police command here said Tuesday.
Lt. Col. Michelle Olaivar, the police region 10 spokesperson, said that that the law enforcers conducted a total of 1,578 anti-illegal drug operations during the same period resulting in the arrest of 1,955 suspects.
Olaivar said that the anti-illegal drug operations also seized a total of 9,173.807 grams of Shabu (Methamphetamine Hydrochloride) during the nine-month drive.
She said that the anti-illegal drug campaign were carried out by allied units and agencies working together in the fight against the elicit drug trade in Northern Mindanao.
She said that the law enforcers already knew the sources of illegal drugs in Northern Mindanao and anti-illegal drug operatives were working together to firm up a strong case against possible suspects.
“There are drawbacks because the witnesses refused to divulge the exact location and the personalities involved in the illegal drug trade,” Olaivar told the MDN.
She said that the arrested couriers and distributors were tight-lipped about the masterminds, apparently in strict observance of the syndicate’s “code of silence.”
Olaivar said that the arrested suspects were not divulging information for fear of their lives and the safety of their families.
However, she said, that the anti-illegal drug operatives believed that sooner or later the personalities behind the illegal drug trade in Northern Mindanao would fall.
“It is just a matter of time before those behind the illegal drug trade would be exposed,” Olaivar said. -0-
