Iligan eyes establishment of modular COVID-19 testing lab

In a virtual press briefing, Iligan Emergency Operations Center manager Dr. Belinda Lim said City Mayor Celso Regencia has allocated P20 million for the said modular laboratory.

Lim said they are currently looking for a suitable site for the testing facility.

“At the same time, ang IATF sige na og discuss sa mga proposals sa mga suppliers para sa mga machines nga ibutang sa modular diagnostic test lab,” she added.

According to Lim, they also sought the help of the Department of Health to conduct ocular inspection to identify if the proposed sites are compliant with the minimum requirements of the Health Department.

The creation of a COVID-19 testing lab is part of the city government’s proactive response to the global pandemic.

As of September 8, the Iligan City Health Office recorded a total of 475 confirmed COVID-19 positive cases. Of this number, 248 or 52.21% are active cases. A total of 209 recoveries was also recorded at a recovery rate of 44%. On the other hand, the case fatality rate is at 3.79% or 18 cases. (APB/PIA-ICIC)
