Iligan City reverts to MECQ

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte on Monday evening, placed Iligan under MECQ starting September 1 until September 30, 2020 after seeing a spike in the number of cases in the city.

For August 31 alone, Iligan has logged 34 new cases, 32 are local transmission while two are locally stranded individuals (LSIs).

The Emergency Operation Center Health Cluster of Iligan City recorded a total of 312 confirmed COVID-19 cases as of August 31. 181 of these cases or around 58 percent (%) are still active.

Of the total number, 31 are returning overseas Filipino workers (ROFs), 45 are LSIs, and 236 local cases.

39 are admitted in various healthcare institutions, 129 are in isolation facilities, 13 are under strict and supervised home quarantine, 121 have recovered and 10 have expired

In a separate online press conference on Tuesday morning, Dr. Adriano Suba-an, regional director of the Department of Health (DOH) in Northern Mindanao, also disclosed that out of 55 health workers in the region that tested positive for COVID-19, 61.8% or 34 are from Iligan City.

As of press time, the city government of Iligan is still finalizing the new Executive Order with the specific MECQ guidelines that will be observed in the city. (APB/PIA-ICIC)
