BY ASANGAN T. MADALE

REPRESENTATIVES OF THE INTERNATIONL COMMITTEE ON RED CROSS (ICRC) led the cutting of ribbon and handover of newly constructed water system for the two hospitals Tamparan District Hospital (TDH) and Tamparan Medical Foundation Inc.

TMFIH, assisted by Mayor Mohammad Juhar D. Disomimba of the Municipality of Tamparan, and Dr Potri D. Disomimba-Ali, Chief of Tamparan District Hospital recently held the turnover ceremony inside the hospital compound, top officials said.

Earlier in an interview with the Chief of the hospital, Dr. Potri Disomimba-Ali, said this purification of surface water project, which is sourced from Lake Lanao, was made available and already safe for drinking for the patients of the two hospitals and the community. “It took many years under my administration in having this started as it was hampered by two reasons, firstly, the Marawi Siege in May 2017, and secondly, the global crisis due to the pandemic.

In her speech, Dr Ali told the ICRC representatives that on behalf of the people of this town, including the 11 Catchments municipalities, we are very much so thankful to the ICRC for their concern to the Maranao, in particular, who have suffered from diarrhea and other water borne diseases for decades.

“Now, bacteria are finally reduced by this water treatment and purification of water project. It is now my honor and privilege to officially receive this facility.”

Dr Ali added, saying this program on health is specifically designed to address basic human needs which includes water supply, health basic education, vocational training, sanitary environment and rural infrastructure.
