IATF discourages travel outside Camiguin Island

ISLAND PROVINCE OF CAMIGUIN: Residents in this island province were discouraged to travel outside the island while visitors and returning residents had to be processed before allowing them to move around the island.

Provincial Governor Jurdin Jesus Romualdo, of Camiguin, said that the measure was part of the health protocol adopted by the Provincial Inter-Agency Task Force (PIATF) effective May 23, 2021.
He said that leaving the island is discouraged, but those who would travel must secure a resident card and travel clearance from the village (barangay).
Romualdo said that the village chief will provide the initial clearance, which the resident will present to the municipal health officer.
“It is the village chief who will inform the municipal health officer that the resident is leaving the island province,” Romualdo said.
He said that aside from determining whether the travel is essential or an emergency, the municipal health officer will also inform the person about the health protocals and the requirements when he or she returns to the island.
For authorized person’s outside residents (APOR), the requirements were based on the standard requirements issued by the national IATF, Romialdo said.
The provincial IATF in Camiguin adopted the stringent health protocol in response to reports of the upsurged of the deadly nobel corona virus in Northern Mindanao.
Romualdo said that the provincial government were adopting mitigating policies to control and prevent the spread of COVID-19 in Camjguin, one of the tourism hubs in Northern Mindanao. -O-
