KABUNTALAN, Maguindanao – The evils of politics continue to haunt politicians who are hungry for power.
Believe it or not but in Kabuntalan town, Maguindanao, a husband, and wife will be battling it out for the mayoral seat in next year’s local and national elections.
This, as incumbent Vice Mayor Mary Jane Bayam-Dilangalen filed her certificate of candidacy at the Comelec office to challenge her husband, Mayor Datu Umbra “Ramil” Dilangalen, who is seeking reelection in May 2022.
It was learned that the Comelec has accepted their COCs but at press time both camps have not issued their statements yet to the media why they are running for the top mayoral post when they are husband and wife.
In related news in Misamis Oriental, a brother against his own biological brother in the vice gubernatorial post is also happening, as both filed their COCs under separate political parties.
Incumbent vice-governor Jigjag Pelaez of Padayon Pilipino political party is seeking reelection.
But his brother, Joey G. Pelaez has also filed his own certificate of candidacy under Team Unity, challenging the incumbent vice governor position.
