CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY: Unidentified gunmen allegedly riding in tandem, ambushed the medical director of Maria Reyna Hospital, a known private hospital here, in the village of Nazareth Thursday morning.

Dr. Raul Andotan, a Neuro-Surgeon and Medical Director of Maria Reyna Hospital here, was declared dead on arrival after sustaining fatal gunshot wounds, mostly on the neck.

An initial police investigation disclosed that the suspects fired at the victim who was driving his vehicle, a grey colored Fortuner with plate number CAB 6998, on the corner of 12th-29th street in Nazareth.

Police were looking into the motive of the shooting as witnesses narrated that Andutan was a good doctor who performed surgery even on penniless patients.
The shooting took place a few meters from the residence of Deputy Speaker Cong. Rufus Rodriguez where an unidentified suspects lobbed a fragmentation grenade that failed to explode in September this year.

The suspects in the grenade throwing remains at large although close circuit television cameras Installed along the streets recorded the suspects riding in a getaway motorcycle.

Andutan was the second high profile shooting victim in Cagayan de Oro City this year.

The first was Sherwin “Tawee” Uy, a village councilor of Carmen and son of incumbent Cagayan de Oro’s First District Congressman Rolando Uy, who was gunned down on Nov. 11, this year.

Although a P 12 million bounty was raised to catch the killers of Uy, the killing of Uy remains unsolved. -0-
