Hospital appeals for sobriety as COVID cases up in CDO

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY: The state-run Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC) appealed Friday for public understanding after the hospital reached its admission limit for COVID positive patients.
In a piblic advisory posted in the hospital’s social media platform, the NMMC sought public understanding because the hospital’s energency rooms and wards for COVID -19 patients are now “operating beyond its limit “
“However, we will continue to serve and respond to patients with COVID-19 cases and non COVID -19 cases to the best we can,” the advisory read.
An OCTA Research Group report released June 8, 2021, ranked Cagayan de Oro City number three nationwide from June 1, 2021 to June 7, 2021 with an average of 118 COVID-19 positive cases per day.
A doctor assigned at the NMMC emergency room for COVIID-19 patients, said that they are treating the patuents according to the severity of the infection.
In a talked with the Mindanao Daily News, the doctor said that all isolation centers in the city were already full. The hospital ambulances were transporting COVID-19 patients to various isolation ceneters 24/7, tje doctor said.
“ We are on duty on a 24-hour cycke without sleep because some doctors and nurses were also sent to isolation centers after they were found positive of the Covid virus,” the doctor who spoke on condition of anonymity said.-0-
