CAMP SIONGCO, Awang, DOS, Maguindanao del Norte – Soldiers of the 34th Infantry (Reliable) Battalion recovered this Monday morning (May 8, 2023) in Barangay Tugal, Midsayap, Cotabato three powerful RPG types left behind by warring groups because of rido.
34IB Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Rey Rico said that while his men were conducting security assistance for the staff of the Ministry of Social Services and Development of BARMM, a civilian gave information about three RPG bullets.
“We immediately cordoned off the area and called an EOD Team for the recovery and disposition of the recovered explosives. Around noon it was successfully obtained and is now in the custody of the EOD Team”, according to Lt. Col. Rico.
602Bde Commander, Brigadier General Donald Gumiran confirmed that the staff of the MSSD BARMM Midsayap Cluster is conducting Validation, Identification and Assessment on damaged households due to the Armed Conflict in Barangay Tugal, Midsayap, Special Geographic Area of BARMM on May 3, 2023 .
“Due to the feud between the two factions, MSSD BARMM staff witnessed the situation of residents in Sitio Mapayag, Sitio Labo and Sitio Basak who were completely affected due to the chaos. With the help of the Social Workers of the Midsayap Cluster, the said activity was carried out properly”, according to Brig. Gen. Follow
Major General Alex Rillera, Division Commander of the 6ID and Joint Task Force Central thanked the individual who provided information on the presence of three explosives as well as the immediate response of the 34IB to the incident and prevented the greater danger not only to the armies but also also to civilians if it ends up being used in evil plans.
“As soldiers, it is our duty to serve our countrymen in any situation. We are also ready to provide assistance to our LGU’s and Government Line Agencies to deliver the government program to our countrymen”, said the 6ID and JTFC Commander.
