CAGAYAN DE PRO CITY : “Heart attack” was the caused of death of the 73- year-old senior citizen who died a few minutes after an anti- COVID 19 jab here five days ago, the City Health Official said.
Dr. Lorraine Nery, the City health Official, said that the death of Zoilo Joaquin Borcillo, of Barangay Agusan, Cagayan De Oro City, was not related to the anti-COVID-19 vaccine.
Borcillo got an Astra Zeneca, an anti-COVI-19 jab, Wednesday, one of the schedule days for senior citizens for the week in a downtown mall here.
A few minutes after getting the jab, Borcillo complained of difficulty of breathing.
Borcillo was rushed to the city hospital where he expired.
City Mayor Oscar Moreno ordered a probe of Borcillo’s death while appealing to the senior citizens to provide all information about their health prior to getting an anti-COVID-19 vaccine.
The City Executive issued the appeal Thursday after his office received reports that Borcillo has an “open heart surgery” before.
While Borcillo indicated in his registration form that he has a comorbidity with hypertension and prostatic hypertrophy, he did not did not disclose his heart surgery, Moreno said.
Nery said that the result of the autopsy conducted on May 13, 2021 was clear that Borcillos’ death was not vaccine related.
“The bottom line of all the autopsy reports come up with a final diagnosis that It was acute myocardial infraction or what we call as “heart attack” that caused the death,” Nery said. -0-
