CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY: The reports about “head-cutting cult” in Misamis Occidental were unfounded, police provincial director Col. Rolindo M. Suguilon said Wednesday.
In a report to the police regional command here, Suguilon said the police who were dispatched to investigate reported that the stories about the alleged head-cutting cult members were unfounded.
“The report about the knocking incidents has gone viral in the social media striking unfounded fears among the local residents,” Suguilon said.
He said that the police suspected that the exaggerated rumor was concocted after the murder of a certain “Bacaro” in the municipality of Tudela where the suspects remained at large.
According to Suguilon, the two persons who were arrested in Tudela were booked with curfew violations and has no connection with the killing of Bacaro.
Suguilon appealed to the people in Misamis Occidental to refrain from posting baseless information on social media that might cause panic among the residents.
He assured the people in Misamis Occidental that the law enforcers are always ready 24/7 to respond to calls of assistance anywhere in the province. -0-
