GRIND Program Takes Spotlight in DSSC Roadshow

Envisioned to bring Science and Technology closer to the margins, the Department of Science and Technology XI (DOST XI) through the Provincial S&T Office (PSTO) Davao del Sur, and the Davao del Sur State College (DSSC) hosted a roadshow to showcase the Grassroots Innovation for Inclusive Development (GRIND) Program of DOST last February 14, 2023.

The GRIND Program is a pioneering program of the DOST that aims to empower marginalized communities by developing and strengthening its existing Grassroots Innovations through a series of S&T interventions.

The roadshow kicked off in Gaisano Mall, Digos City where DOST-CARAGA Regional Director Noel Ajoc provided in-depth information about the GRIND program and shared success stories of Grassroots Innovators in Mindanao.

The roadshow also exhibited interactive displays that showcased various grassroots innovations such as tribal dresses and beadworks from tribal communities in Davao del Sur.

In a statement, PSTO Davao del Sur Director Ms. Leslie Cancio emphasized the importance of the roadshow in promoting the GRIND program to inspire and encourage more communities to take advantage of the opportunities that are available to them through their community-led innovations.

She also expressed gratitude for the support from various institutions and agencies and the participation of grassroots communities. DOST XI also hopes to build on this momentum to promote inclusive development for all through Science and Technology.

Recently, DOST XI collaborated with DSSC through a project entitled “Mainstreaming the GRIND to the Davao del Sur State College.”
