Gov’t troops encounter CTGs, recover High Powered Firearm in Sultan Kudarat

CAMP SIONGCO, Awang, DOS, Maguindanao – The government’s security forces recovered a rifle and other war materials in an encounter with the enemy of the state in Baluan, Palimbang, Sultan Kudarat on July 16, 2022.

With dedication and commitment to protecting the communities, military troops conducted a combat operation and encountered the communist terrorist group where there was a five-minute exchange of fire, due to the force and strength of the soldiers the CTGs were forced to flee.

Troops were able to recover one M16, one bag pack, long magazines, ammunition, bandolier, cellphones, subversive documents, assorted medical paraphernalia, and other personal belongings believed to be from the fleeing communist terrorist groups who scampered into different directions.

Colonel Michael A Santos, 603rd Brigade Commander said there were no casualties on the government forces while still being verified on the enemy side. “Our troops from 8th Scout Ranger Company are conducting combat operation along enemy mobility corridor at the said vicinity while approaching the area when they encountered communist terrorist group estimated at six in number around 8:50 a.m.”, Col. Santos said.

It can be recalled that last July 10, 2022, a member of CTG was killed in an encounter with the elements of the 57th Infantry (MASIKAP) Battalion in the same municipality, and the recovery of his firearm.

Major General Roberto S Capulong, Acting Commander of 6th Infantry (Kampilan) Division and Joint Task Force Central lauded the troops of 8SRC for preempting the enemies from executing their terror plan. “The confiscation of this rifle and other war materials are tantamount to our peace and security in the area. Being one with the government toward its finishing touches to fully end insurgency in the country, I would like to assure the residents of Palimbang in Sultan Kudarat that your soldiers from JTFC and 6ID are committed to serving the people and protecting the communities.”

According to JTFC records, at least six (6) CTGs have been neutralized by the operating troops under 6ID from January to the present, of which 86 have surrendered to various units under the Joint Task Force Central, including dozens of firearms, explosives, and other war materials were confiscated and recovered by troops, based on the said period.
