3 DRUG SUSPECTS ARRESTED;
P2.4 MILLION ‘SHABU’ SEIZED
MARAWI CITY – Joint operatives from the PNP organization in this city and Lanao del Sur arrested Wednesday three suspects who were known drug peddlers in the area, and successfully seized an estimated P2.4 million worth of illegal drugs suspected as ‘shabu.’
Lanao Sur Provincial Director Colonel Rex Derilo identified the three suspects as Patty Paloma, Asraf Gani, and Mahid Macabato. The suspects were arrested during a buy-bust operation inside a restaurant in the vicinity of Mindanao State University (MSU) Marawi Campus.
The Police Provincial Director said that based on the team’s earlier surveillance before the successful buy-bust operation, Mahid Pumbaya, an alleged maintainer of the place, which has been known allegedly as a ‘drug den,’ eluded arrest during the operation, in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).
The raiding team seized from the suspects the marked money, a .45 caliber pistol, ammos, and 350 grams of suspected shabu which has an estimated market value of P2.4 Million according to the police.
“We will continue to intensify our operations against the same illegal activity in any particular locations, giving relentless focus on high-value target individuals, in line with directives of our Police Regional Director Brig. Gen. Samuel Rodriguez,” Derilo said.
The three suspects are now languishing at the Lanao del Sur detention facility and they will be charged for violation of Republic Act 9165, otherwise known as the “Dangerous DRug Act of 2002 and RA 10591 for illegal possession of firearms.
