Everyone has its final moment on earth and now its happening to the legendary man of the masses and Mindanao's Peacemaker, former mayor Vicente "Dongkoy" Y. Emano.

When the Creator invites us to join Him in heaven, we can't do nothing but to obey his will because our destiny on earth has ended. Our final moment will come. No one is immortal.

The cremated body of Mayor Vicente Emano will be buried today in Tagoloan Catholic Cemetery according to the final burial schedule released to the media and to the supporters of the mayor.

Based on the burial schedule furnished to MDN digital, at around 7:30 in the morning today, the services will start by departing from the ancestral house of the Emano Family in Sta Cecilia Village, Gusa, this city.

At Bugo-Tagoloan bridge, a police car will be waiting and it will then lead the funeral cortege going to Tagoloan town in Misamis Oriental, where the late mayor has served for three years of his life before he became Governor of the province and later transferred in Cagayan de Oro.

Upon arrival at Tagoloan Municipal Hall, the Emano family will disembark and will pause for a few minutes of prayer, and will then proceed to Candelaria Parish Church where a burial mass will be held.

After the mass, the funeral procession will follow going to Tagoloan Catholic Cemetery where the man of the masses will be put to his final resting place.

EMANO'S LEGACY

When the good mayor has served for three years in Tagaloan town from 1980 to 1983, he made the place one of the most progeressive towns in Misamis Oriental. In fact, because of his brand of leadership, Tagoloan town became a byword among all people in the province, as well as in Cagayan de Oro City, which was then a silent small city in Northern Mindanao.

Tagoloan town during the incumbency of the man of the masses has been monickered an "Emano country," because of the strong presence and leadership of the good mayor. Of course he was born in Tagoloan on March 31,1943 and the Emano clan has also lived in Tagoloan for centuries. That's why when people talked about Tagoloan we cannot deny mentioning the Emanos there. For the record, there were already three Emanos who became an alcalde of the town.

When Dongkoy Emano, as he was fondly called by closest friends, ran for governor of the province and won in 1988, he also changed the political and business landscape of the province as will as the City of Cagayan de Oro. Among the biggest contributions of Dongkoy were the electrification system in the towns of the province as well as the founding of Misamis Oriental Telephone system (Misortel) It was the first time the city and the province experience using the telephones in their private and business transactions. Since it was the first telephone system used in Cagayan de Oro, it tremendously helped a lot in most business transactions in the daily grind of business in the city.

In 1998, Emano ran for mayor of Cagayan de Oro and won with a very wide margin against his political rivals for the position. This time, the city also became a talk of the town city in Northern Mindanao because of Mayor Emano's strong presence and leadership. He was not only a vibrant and very active political leader the country has, but the good mayor also became a peacemaker when he helped negotiate some people kidnapped and brought to Marawi and Lanao for their liberty. He also helped negotiate some policemen who were made prisoners of war (POWs) by the New People's Army back then.

As the city mayor of Cagayan de Oro for three terms, below were the most important and historical contributions of Mayor Emano:

Indeed, the man of the masses is worth emulating as far as his brand of leadership. In fact, succeeding leaders of the city and the province were also once under the party he founded, the Padayon Pilipino. They were incumbent city mayor Oscar Moreno, Cong Rolando Uy, Ramon Tabor, Annie Daba, Ian Mark Nacaya, Prexy Elipe, Nadya Emano, Juliet Uy, Vice Guv Uy, Ian Acenas, Jun Acenas, Leon Gan, and many more Padayon Pilipino members.
